ROXANNE DRYDEN-EDWARDS, MD
Overview:
Dr. Roxanne Dryden-Edwards is an adult, child, and adolescent psychiatrist. She is a former Chair of the Committee on Developmental Disabilities for the American Psychiatric Association, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Senior Psychiatrist at the Kennedy Krieger High School, in Baltimore, Maryland. She served as the Medical Director of the National Center for Children and Families in Bethesda, Maryland, where she helped establish a quality assurance program. She currently works in a group practice in Maryland and provides forensic consultation for Montgomery County, Maryland and for the District of Columbia.
Education and Certification:
Dr. Dryden-Edwards received her undergraduate and medical degrees at Howard University in Washington, D.C. She completed a residency in General Psychiatry at Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital in Towson, Maryland, as well as a residency in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., where she was Associate Chief Resident. She is board certified in General Psychiatry.

She is the author of the book Infertility from Both Sides of the Stethoscope: A Guide from a Doctor Who's Been There. In her book, she provides the reader with information regarding the various medical causes of and treatments for infertility in a consumer-friendly way. The book then helps the reader understand the emotional aspects of this journey and how to navigate through it no matter what the ultimate outcome. She is also co-editor and chapter contributor for the book entitled Developmental Disabilities from Childhood to Adulthood: What Works in Community Settings. This book is currently in press with Johns Hopkins University Press. Dr. Dryden-Edwards writes articles for WebMD on a wide variety of mental health topics, ranging from managing grief and the challenges of inheritance to drug abuse and separation anxiety disorder.
Presenter:
Dr. Dryden-Edwards has educated the professional community and the general public about numerous mental-health issues through presentations at national organizations, on television and radio. She has presented on a wide range of social and mental health topics, including domestic violence, community violence, team building and diversity issues in the workplace. She is available to present on these topics, as well as on a wide variety of other topics, including mental illnesses and treatments, incident reporting and other quality assurance issues, as well as presentations on the emotional toll of infertility.
